St Bryde's Well is associated with St Bryde (or Bridget), a 6th-century Cornish saint linked to several holy wells and shrines in Britain. Traditionally, the well was believed to have healing properties, particularly for eye ailments and female-related illnesses, and was a site of pilgrimage and ritual water offerings.
