Charles Brand stripped Brucklay Castle in 1953, leaving a roofless shell where thick cellar walls and a moulded arch still trap shadow. It is not a clever castle story, but a house broken open and abandoned. The missing roof turns every room into a wound that rains through instead of holding life.
