This grey commemorative plaque records: This recreation ground was presented to the city in 1926 jointly by Messrs Alfred Herbert Ltd and Sir Alfred Herbert KBE and this tree was planted in 1928 to commemorate the gift Recorded plaque organisation: Alfred Herbert Ltd.
Alfred Herbert was a prominent British industrialist who played a crucial role in Coventry’s engineering industry; he is remembered for his significant contributions to local economic development and philanthropy, exemplified by the donation of Broomfield Park.
