This bronze commemorative plaque records: “The Matthew Haygarth Memorial Trust, 55 Bolton Street, Ramsbottom. Matthew Haygarth (21st February 1909 – 4th February 1988) bequeathed funds for the purchase of this building to provide low cost rented accommodation in the Bury area for older single persons. His wishes included that this should be administered under the auspices of Bury Unitarian Church.” Recorded plaque organisation: The Matthew Haygarth Memorial Trust.
