What is recorded here
Brodie Castle Policies holds a small two-storey bothy built against the northwest garden wall, where a single gable window still faces the grounds. It served the castle estate during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, likely giving keepers, gardeners or visitors a dry place to store tools, heat tea or watch the land. The nearby lean-to vinery has vanished, but the bothy remains beside the wall, preserving the shape of a working garden rather than a grand display.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Brodie Castle Policies as Garden Shed(s) (19th Century) - (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Brodie Castle in Scotland was primarily built and held by the Brodie family, a prominent Scottish clan, with significant construction phases occurring in the 16th and 17th centuries. The castle is important as a historic seat of the Brodie clan and as an example of Scottish domestic architecture with later additions reflecting the family's influence and status over centuries.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
