Castle Hill in Bridge of Weir carries a medieval motte and roman pottery, linking the same ground across centuries of human presence. The hill may have risen as a fortress, a boundary marker or a temporary camp, but the layers suggest people kept returning to its height. What they saw from the top, feared or controlled remains unknown. The hill still stands above the town, waiting for memory to catch up with stone.
