Brahan Castle Stables stand in Ross and Cromarty as Post Medieval horse housing, their stones still holding the shape of working days rather than display. They belong to the castle estate, not a separate mansion, and they may have smelled of straw, sweat and rain while people rushed horses through narrow doors. The absence of a grand facade does not diminish them; it removes false pride and leaves the stable purpose unchanged.
