Milton Keynes now covers much of the old county landscape, yet the castle mound still stands eighty metres north east of St. Lawrence's Church. Earth and memory have outlasted every boundary drawn around them.

Built in the late 11th or early 12th century, Bradwell castle mound was likely constructed by a Norman lord to establish control over the surrounding area following the Norman Conquest. Its importance lies in its role as a strategic defensive and administrative site in the medieval landscape.
