Boundary stone in Carrickbeg

Located at the S side of a SW-NE road on a steep hill overlooking Carrick-on-Suir. This is a conglomerate boulder (dims. 1.5m x 1.1m; H 0.45-0.7m) locally called the 'Friar's Stone'. A shelf (L 0.9m; Wth 0.35m; D 0.1-0.2m) is excavated into its flat upper surface. It is a possible mass rock. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
