Bothwell Castle Colliery Hutch Memorial stands on Uddingston Road, marked in 2015 as a twenty-first-century monument to the men and women who worked the local coalfields. The hutch itself was a brutal birthplace for coal, spitting black water and red heat while workers bled strength into the earth. The memorial transforms that violence into remembrance, giving visible form to lives consumed by the castle's shadow.
