Bothwell Castle No. 1 and 2, Colliery marks two mining shafts beside the old castle in South Lanarkshire. Whether men dug coal beneath the castle walls or beside them, the earth gave up its black treasure while men risked their lungs and bones. The castle watched, stones cold and proud, while the colliery did the dirty work of keeping lights on and kettles boiling.
