Bothwell Castle and its gate house stand on Bothwell Road in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The gate lodge and gatehouse still mark the entrance to a place that has watched over the land for centuries. They belong to the castle estate and may not be freely entered, but they remain clear on the landscape and in the national record.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Bothwell Castle, Bothwell Road, Bothwell Castle Gate House as Gate Lodge (period Unassigned), Gatehouse (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Bothwell Castle was originally built in the late 12th century by the de Quincy family and later held by the Maxwells and then the Earls of Glasgow. It is historically significant as the site of the 1301 Battle of Bothwell Burn, where Scottish forces defeated the English, and for its role in the Wars of Scottish Independence.
