Detached single-cell single-storey building, built c.1980, providing access to underground lecture theatres. Flat roof with sloped section to rear (west) elevation. Roughcast rendered walls with fixed glazed panelling to front (east) and side elevations. Square-headed double-leaf automatic door to front elevation providing access to stair well.

The underground lecture theatres at UCC were designed to maximise space in the campus. Built at the same time as the Boole Library, the buildings are linked underground. Both the theatres and library are named after George Boole (1815-1864) who was the first Professor of Mathematics at Queen's College, Cork (now UCC) (1849-1854). He developed a new branch of maths - invariant theory - and is probably best remembered today for his theory of logic, Boolean algebra, that represents a fundamental step in the design of computers.
