Boddam Castle is a scheduled medieval castle in Aberdeenshire, built for the Keiths of Ludquharn in the 16th century. Its surviving curtain wall, west entrance, round-arched doorway, square window and three gun loops still mark a house made for defense as much as domestic life. The castle may have faced sea raids, border disputes or the ordinary violence of Scottish locality, and its gun loops suggest it was prepared for real danger rather than display alone. Today it stands as a ruined domestic fortress, preserving the shape of a family home that also knew fear.

Boddam Castle was built in the late 14th or early 15th century by the Keith family, a powerful noble lineage in northeast Scotland. It is remembered as a significant stronghold associated with the Keiths and as an example of medieval defensive architecture in the region.
