Bobby Aylward

Bobby Aylward was born in Mullinavat, County Kilkenny, on 1 April 1955, entering a household where public service ran in the blood. His father Bob served as a Senator until his death in 1974, while his brother Liam later represented the same constituency before retiring from national politics in 2007. Bobby carried that lineage into the Dail, serving Carlow-Kilkenny from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2015 to 2020, though he also worked as a farmer during his time as a Teachta Dala. He died in Kilkenny on 14 July 2022, leaving behind his wife Helena Long and their three children.
