Black Loch, Castle Douglas is a dark enclosure in Dumfries and Galloway, its purpose lost to time but its shape still clear on the land. The water may have fed horses, hidden lovers, or swallowed the shadows of men who stopped asking questions. Castle Douglas has spires and streets, yet this small loch remains the county's quietest secret, waiting for someone stupid enough to jump in and ask it what it wants.
