Black Castle of Moulin stands as ruins near Pitlochry because Sir John Campbell of Lochawe built it about 1326 on a crannog in a loch now drained. The castle was torched in 1512 during a fear of plague, stripping it of life and leaving stone behind. That sudden abandonment makes the place sound less like a forgotten building and more like a warning the land still remembers.
