Why this matters
Bixter Voe is a coastal bay on the Shetland Islands, characterized by sea cliffs and rocky shores formed primarily from Jurassic sandstones and conglomerates. These rocks were deposited around 150 to 170 million years ago in a fluvial and deltaic environment, and were later uplifted and eroded by marine processes to form the present-day coastal feature.
