Lisnabrean in Barnmeen, County Down, is a bivallate rath, meaning two concentric defensive rings rather than one. The repeated earthworks suggest the site outgrew its first boundary or faced threats severe enough to demand a second line of resistance. Whatever lived there, it was important enough to fortify twice.
