Two parallel ditches still trace the perimeter of BIVALLATE RATH in Seacash, County Antrim, marking a fortified enclosure built during the early Christian period. The doubled defence line suggests residents valued layered protection rather than a single boundary, perhaps against raiders, rival families or simply the raw exposure of the northern landscape. Walking that imagined ridge would reveal how much ordinary life depended on shape, distance and the certainty that the ground itself could hold back danger.
