This blue commemorative plaque records: Hind Street Burial Ground In 1988, to facilitate building Sunderland’s Inner Ring Road, human remains buried between 1806 and 1851 in Hind Street Churchyard, were removed and re-interred in the Cemetery at Bishopwearmouth. Recorded plaque organisation: Borough of Sunderland.
Bishopwearmouth Cemetery serves as a significant burial site where remains from the former Hind Street Burial Ground were relocated in 1988 to accommodate Sunderland’s Inner Ring Road development.
