Bellwell Fort was a thirty-five-metre circular enclosure on a north-west facing Galway slope, now erased from the grassland despite surviving on the earliest survey maps. It may have housed humans, hidden treasure or simply teased the spirits who favour forgotten geometry. The land keeps its shape in memory even when the soil refuses to show it.
On a NW-facing slope in grassland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (D c. 35m). No visible surface trace survives.
