Old Beaupre Castle is a ruined fortified manor house in Llanfair, built around 1300 and repeatedly rebuilt by the Basset family until 1600. Its smooth Renaissance porch rises through Doric, Ionic and Corinthian columns above a roofless hall where a fourteenth-century fireplace still faces an open sky. The Basset name appears on heraldic panels, yet the Jones family later abandoned the place for a smaller mansion, leaving behind a vast stone court where water still flows through old drains.
