This black commemorative plaque records: Known as Beatestret or Betarestret as long ago as 1200, this was the main highway to Gloucester. Many of the cottages were occupied by cloth weavers
Beatestret, an ancient road dating back to at least 1200, served as a primary route to Gloucester and was historically significant for housing many cloth weavers' cottages.
