A 12th century Norman Motte. Under the care of English Heritage, this is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Beacon Hill has an earth and timber motte structure, typical of Norman military architecture, and rises to a height of approximately 10–15 metres. Its strategic position suggests it was used for local defence and communication, and as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, it contributes to understanding medieval settlement patterns in the region.
