Bawn in Toomore, County Mayo, is a bawn, a fortified enclosure whose walls once kept out trouble and held in whatever mattered to the people inside. It still belongs to the land, marked only by a name and a kind, waiting for someone to walk its line and imagine the lives it sheltered.
