What is recorded here

Brannock still holds a bawn, a fortified enclosure born in the post-medieval era when people needed walls against uncertainty. The stone circle may have guarded a home, a treasury or a family line, while storms and invaders passed overhead. That much is clear from the surviving shape. The rest belongs to imagination, which is where memory becomes alive.
