Bawn in Ballyhobin,caherline

Bawn

What is recorded here

Bawn in Ballyhobin, caherline is a missing stone house and bawn in County Limerick, Ireland. It belongs to the world as a absent place, not a visible claim. What is known is that it is no longer a complete record, and the best answer is to show the gap without inventing the lost part.
The precise location of a stone house (LI023-340001-) and bawn in the townland of Caherline or Ballyhobin has not been identified. The Civil Survey of 1654-56 recorded that in 'Carlyne and Balliobyne one pl. wh. a stone house a Bawen and a marbell quarrie (LI023-339----) thereunto' (Simington 1938, 74). In 1641 this house and bawn was located on the lands of Connor Clancie of Ballibrickyn who is listed as an 'Irish Papist'. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 4 July 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
