Bawn

What is recorded here

Bawn in Ballinderry (clare By.) is a bawn in County Galway, Ireland. The provided facts contain no further detail about the place.
‘Ballinderry Castle’ (GA043-004001-) stood on the N edge of a rectangular platform (27m E-W; 25m N-S) defined by a scarp, which may have marked the line of an associated bawn (GA043-004002-). The present wall (c. 39m E-W; c. 25m N-S) surrounding it, with angle towers at SE and SW, dates to the early 2000s. Likewise, the internal rectangular walled area in the SE sector and the internal dividing wall in the SW sector are modern. A series of earthworks (GA043-004004-) may be associated with the castle.
