This black commemorative plaque records: Bawdlands General Improvement Area. This plaque commemorates the declaration by his worship the mayor councillor Mr J. I. Walmsley on the 24th of April 1982, of the successful completion of the second general improvement area in Clitheroe, which followed from the initiative of the ribble valley borough council and the support of the Bawdlands residents consultant architects Rod Hackney and Associates.
