What is recorded here

Morgan's and Cromwell's men killed each other in Toome in 1642, but nobody has marked the exact ground where the swords crossed. The battle helped Cromwell take County Antrim, yet the victims remain nameless beneath ordinary soil. Toome grew around that forgotten violence, its streets and fields built on top of a fight so brief it vanished from memory.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as BATTLE SITE; 1642 (unlocated). Recorded period: POST-MED; C17TH. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
