What is recorded here

Carrickhugh, Coolagh and Faughanvale marked a battle fought in 1197, when armed men clashed on soil that now belongs to County Derry. The date separates this from ordinary legend: violence happened there at a known moment, and the land kept the shape of the event. People may have fled, buried or forgotten the dead, while the valley continued producing grass, rain and life.
