The Battle of Tempsford was fought in 1071 between Norman forces under William the Conqueror and a rebellion led by the Anglo-Saxon earl Waltheof. The Normans won, suppressing the last major Anglo-Saxon uprising after the Conquest, which helped secure Norman control over England.
