Royalist forces under Sir Gilbert Gerard clashed with Parliamentarian troops led by Colonel "Tinker" Fox on Stourbridge Heath in 1644 during the First English Civil War. The Royalists won a tactical victory, halting the Parliamentarians' advance toward Worcester and securing the city for the Crown for several more months.
