Battle of Aura

battle

What is recorded here

On the night before the final charge, MacDonnell men cut rushes and laid them across the bog like a temporary bridge, then lured O'Neill cavalry onto that path until the wet earth swallowed their horses. Hugh MacFelim O'Neill later begged for his life with promises of young horses and fair damsels, but MacIlveal killed him instead, and the combined MacDonnell, MacAuley and MacPhoil force drove the defeated men to the banks of the Aura. The hill kept the shape of the fight, while the Glenshesk valley kept the dead.
Battle of Aura is a battle in County Antrim, Ireland.
