Wreck

What is recorded here

The National Monuments Record of Wales records Batavia I as Wreck from the Ôl-ganoloesol period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Batavia I was a 17th-century East Indiaman that was shipwrecked off the coast of Western Australia in 1629, resulting in the deaths of over 100 crew and passengers. The wreck is historically significant as it led to the establishment of a settlement in the region and is one of the most important early European shipwrecks in Australian history.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
