Bat's Castle is an Iron Age hillfort in Somerset where concentric earthworks still trace the shape of a defensible life. It may have been a seasonal camp, a territorial marker, or a refuge for people who read danger in the horizon. The outwork extends the perimeter like a second thought, as if the first circle was not enough to keep the world at a distance.
