Basque refugee children plaque

This commemorative plaque records: Penstone House once stood on this site. In 1937, Penstone House provided sanctuary for a number of refugee children from the Basque region of Spain who came to Britain fleeing bombing and starvation after the destruction of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.
