Thirty-five metres of packed earth and stone rise from the Clare marsh, forcing every traveller to acknowledge the hand that built them. The mound still holds a level circular summit, while shale slabs brace its western edge against centuries of rain and forgetting. It stands eighty metres from the Cloongarve boundary stream, isolated enough to demand attention yet ordinary enough to be walked past.

In undulating marshy pasture with clear views in all directions, c. 80m W of a N-flowing stream that forms the townland boundary with Cloongarve. Hachured on the Cassini edition (1916) of the OS 6-inch map. Classified as an enclosure in the RMP (1996). A large oval earth and stone mound (35m E-W; 30m N-S; H 2.5m over W and N; H 3.5m elsewhere), with a level, circular summit (diam. 5.5m) defined by a low, broad earth and stone bank (Wth 3m; H 0.1-0.65m). The bank is highest at W (H 0.65m) where it is revetted by a course of horizontal and a course of vertical shale slabs (L 2m) on its internal face. An ESB pole stands at the S foot of the mound.
