Barrow

This site consists of an earthen bank and internal fosse enclosing a mound 7.2m N-S and 7.4m E-W. The surrounding fosse measures 1.2m wide, while the external bank measures 3.2m wide; its height above the surrounding land measures .6m while its height above the fosse measures .3m. The NNW sector of the external bank is intersected by a depression measuring 3.5m in diameter and .8m deep. Contained within this depression is a large stone (KE011-042002-) measuring 1.6m x .6m x .38m, which possibly gives the ring-barrow its name. It is marked on the 1939 OS map as 'Cloch Liath' (grey stone). The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
