Barrow

Toor ring-barrow is situated on the slope of a hill affording extensive views in all directions. The site has an external diameter of 50m and is cut in two almost equal parts by a fieldbank running in an E-W direction. The portion of the ring-barrow N of the fieldbank is in very good condition, whereas the section to the S is barely perceptible. There is also another fieldbank running N-S which slightly cuts the E sector, the enclosing bank, and the inner fosse. This site consists of a circular area 32m N-S, enclosed by a well-defined fosse, especially in the N field where it ranged in width between 4.6m and 6.2m. In the S field it is difficult to see in places, though to the SE it measures 5.6m. The enclosing low, wide earthen bank measures in width between 3.7m and 4.2m and rises to a maximum of 1m internally and .7m externally. The above description is derived from C.
