Barrow

In level pasture. Circular area (diam. c. 13m) enclosed by shallow fosse with outer almost levelled earthen bank. Two possible ringbarrows (CO006-02801- and 02802-) to N and NE respectively. Probably one of three 'tumuli' recorded by Bowman (1934, 649) in this townland. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. A ring-barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age, associated with a burial tradition of circular earthen mounds. Its location among two other possible ring-barrow monuments suggests a significant funerary landscape in the region.
