Barrow

In reclaimed pasture, 70m E of the townland boundary with Knockainey. One of a group of 3 possible ditch-barrows (LI040-189001/003-). Not marked on OSi historic maps. Identified as a possible barrow by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 55; AP 5/2072). No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13. Monument visible as a circular cropmark (diam. c. 7m) to the E of farm buildings on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020. Ditch barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age. Its identification from aerial photographs highlights the importance of such techniques in uncovering unrecorded funerary monuments in the region.
