Barochan Cross

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Barochan Cross as Cross (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Barochan Cross is associated with Saint Fillan, a 7th-century Irish monk and healer, and is traditionally linked to the practice of making pilgrimages for physical and spiritual healing. The cross and surrounding site are believed to have been a place of ritual and devotion, with local folklore suggesting that water from nearby wells was used in healing ceremonies.
