Barnahely Castle began as an Anglo-Norman stronghold before the Warren family rebuilt the remains into Castle Warren in 1796. The house stood near Carrigaline until Robert Warren sold the land in 1851, leaving behind a rectangular bawn that cattle now occupy. What looked like a forgotten mansion may have been a living home for decades, its rooms filled with laughter, argument and ordinary Cork life before time pulled the walls back into grass and mud.
