What is recorded here

Montfode is a 19th-century craft recorded in North Ayrshire, not a castle at all. The name Bangor Castle misleads; the truth is a working vessel preserved in the historic environment register. It belongs to the Firth of Clyde, where it cut water and carried life before it stopped moving.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Bangor Castle: Montfode, Ardrossan, Firth of Clyde as Craft (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
