Bamford Edge is a Carboniferous limestone sea cliff, formed around 340 to 320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. It is notable for its role in the landscape of the High Peak area and as a local example of the extensive limestone formations that underlie much of the Derbyshire Peak District.
