Balwearie Castle is a 15th-century tower house in Fife belonging to the Scott family. Its thick stone walls and surviving gable still mark the outline of a defensive home built after 1463. Local story links the place to Sir Michael Scott, a mathematician and mystic, giving the ruin an air of hidden learning rather than ordinary residence.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Balwearie Castle as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Balwearie Castle was built in the 16th century by the Keith family, a prominent Scottish noble family. It is remembered as a fine example of a medieval tower house and for its historical association with the Earls of Kintore.
