Balravie Castle stood on a swamp in Aberdeenshire during the medieval period, traditionally built by one of the Stewarts, Earls of Buchan. Men later levelled the ruins and cultivated the wet ground, erasing every visible trace of walls and ditches. The name still belongs to the land, preserving a ghost that resistance to forgetting has carried through generations.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Balravie Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Balravie Castle was built by the Leslie family in the 15th century and is remembered as a historic seat of the Earls of Rothes, who played a significant role in Scottish history.
