Balmerino Parish Church, established in the 19th century, is associated with the veneration of Saint Fillan, a 7th-century Scottish saint linked to several holy wells and healing traditions in the region. Local folklore suggests that Saint Fillan was a hermit and healer who performed miracles, and his connection to the area may predate the church's construction.
